Set up a rally, rallysprint, hillclimb, heats or a multi-day event
Every kind of event is built from the same two things: the itinerary (the runs that happen) and the scoring rules (which runs count and how). You do not need a different event type. This guide shows what to enter for each kind. The rules for how many runs count, what a did-not-finish does and how ties are split differ between organisers, so check them against your supplementary regulations. The platform offers a default for each and never decides for you.
The pieces
- Stage run. A row in the itinerary with the kind "Stage". Each entry gets one time per stage run.
- Heat or run. A number on a stage run. Runs of the same course share a name and have different heat numbers, so they are scored as runs of one stage.
- Leg or day. A number on a stage run for events that run over more than one day.
- Counts towards the result. Clear this on a run that is only practice or qualifying. The run is kept, shown and printed, but it never counts in the total, and a missing or did-not-finish time on it does not take a crew out. A disqualification still does.
- Method on the classification page: "Sum of stages" adds every counted run. "Best run" takes the fastest finished run of each stage (or the fastest few, see below).
A rally: stages run once each
- On the itinerary page, add each stage as a row: "Kind" stage, a "Code" such as SS1 and a "Name".
- Leave the heat and the leg empty.
- Leave the method on "Sum of stages".
The total time is the sum of the stage times plus penalties. A crew with a stage missing, not finished or without a time is not classified.
A rallysprint: the same short course run several times
- On the itinerary page, use "Add all the runs of one course". Give a code, such as SC, the course name and the "Number of runs (2 to 20)".
- Choose "Add runs". You get one stage run per run, with the same name, numbered as heats: SC-R1, SC-R2 and so on.
- On the classification page, choose how the runs score:
- Method "Sum of stages": every run counts and the times are added.
- Method "Best run": only the fastest run counts. Set "Runs that count per stage" to 2 to add the fastest two, 3 for the fastest three, and so on. A crew needs that many finished runs. Leave it blank for one.
- Choose "Save settings".
A penalty counts only on a run that counts. A penalty for the whole event is always added.
A hillclimb: a practice run, then timed runs, and the best one counts
- Use "Add all the runs of one course" with the course name, the number of runs in all and "Of those, practice or qualifying runs" set to the number of practice runs. The practice runs come first and do not count.
- On the classification page choose "Best run". Leave "Runs that count per stage" blank for the best single run, or enter 2 for the sum of the best two.
- Choose "Save settings".
A crew that does not finish one timed run is still classified on its other runs. It is out only when it has fewer finished timed runs than the number that count.
Heats: qualifying, then finals
- Add the qualifying runs with "Add all the runs of one course": name "Qualifying", the number of runs, and all of them set as practice or qualifying so they do not count.
- Add the finals the same way with the name "Final". Set "First heat number (optional)" to carry on after the qualifying heats, so with two qualifying heats the finals start at heat 3.
- On the classification page, choose how the finals score ("Sum of stages" adds the finals, "Best run" takes the best).
- On the itinerary page, set "Later heats and legs start" to "Order of the earlier heats or legs" and choose "Save start settings".
The start order for heat 3 is then the order the cars finished the earlier heats, fastest first, worked out with the same method as the classification. Cars with no result start after them in seed order. In the print pack, type the heat number before opening the start order. See Produce the start order and the print pack.
Entering the finals for only some cars (an A final and a B final) is not built yet. Cars that do not take part show as did not start and are not classified.
A multi-day event
- Set the event's start and end dates on the event page.
- Add every stage with its "Leg or day (optional)" set: 1 for the first day, 2 for the second. The itinerary page lists the leg beside each row.
- Add the overnight regroup as a row with the kind "Regroup" between the last stage of one day and the first of the next. Set its "Restart: first car leaves at" field to the next morning, so the times below it follow from the new start.
- If the same course runs on both days, give it the same name on both and a different leg. Under "Best run", each day's runs are a stage of their own, so the best run of each day counts, in the overall classification and in each day's.
- Enter times as normal. Besides the overall classification there is one classification for each leg, showing the standings at the end of that day. A penalty for the whole event is left out of a leg. A penalty given on a stage run counts in that run's leg and in the overall classification, so give a day penalty on a run of that day.
- To start the second day in the order of the first, set "Later heats and legs start" to "Order of the earlier heats or legs". In the print pack, type the leg before opening the start order.
A crew that retires and restarts
By default a crew with a stage run that did not finish or did not start is not classified. If your regulations let a crew restart on the next day, set "Time for a run not finished" on the classification page. Every run a crew did not finish or did not start then scores that time (plus any penalty on that run) instead of taking the crew out. A crew with no finished run at all is still not classified, and a disqualification still disqualifies. Leave the field blank to switch the rule off.
The scoring rules in one place
On the event's classification page, under settings:
- "Method": "Sum of stages" or "Best run".
- "Runs that count per stage": for "Best run", how many of a stage's runs count. Blank means one.
- "Tie-break": "First differing run" puts ahead the crew that was faster on the first counted run that differs, in itinerary order (the default). "Fastest single run" compares the fastest counted runs. "Share the position" does not split a tie, and the crews share a position.
- "Time for a run not finished": blank means the run does not count and the crew is out.
Changing a rule changes the live classification. Publish a new provisional classification so the protest window covers the new figures. Versions already published keep what they showed. A copy of an event keeps its scoring rules.
If something goes wrong
- A run is missing from the classification. The run has "counts towards the result" cleared, or the crew has no time for it.
- The runs did not add up as a best run. Runs are one stage only when they have the same name and a heat number. Check the names on the itinerary page.
- A code is already used. "Add runs" refuses when SC-R1 or any other generated code exists. Pick another code.
- There is no classification for each day. Give at least two different leg numbers to stage runs.
- The start order for a later heat is the seeded order. Nothing has finished before it yet, or "Later heats and legs start" is not set to the order of the earlier heats or legs.
