How it works

A season at a glance

Here is a season at a glance, in the order it usually happens. Each step passes its work to the next one, so nobody types anything twice.

Section 01 of 02

Seven steps

From an organiser opening entries to results anyone can read.

  1. Set up

    Organiser

The organiser creates the event, its classes, fees and itinerary. They choose the documents entrants must supply and publish the supplementary regulations.

  2. Open entries

    Organiser, drivers

The organiser opens entries. Drivers enter, name their co-driver and pay. A full class has a waitlist.

  3. Documentation

    Organiser, drivers, co-drivers

Crews send their documents and sign declarations on their phones. The organiser works down the entry list and accepts entries.

  4. Prepare

    Organiser, officials, scrutineers

The organiser builds the officials roster, sends briefings and bulletins, and sets the start order. Everyone gets a print pack for the day.

  5. Event day

    Scrutineers, officials, drivers

Scrutineers check each car against its checklist and record any defects. Officials record times and penalties. Incidents and protests are logged.

  6. Results

    Organiser, stewards

Provisional results are published, then protests and decisions are dealt with. The organiser publishes the final results.

  7. Championship

    Series and sanctioning bodies

Points and standings update across the rounds of a series. Results appear on public pages that anyone can read.
